Hilda – ADOPTED!
Name: Hilda, HillyWeight: 80lbsAge: About 6 years oldLocation: Severn, MDGood with other dogs: Hilda gets along well with her foster brother but sometimes has an attitude. She can be possessive around food. If she a male buddy in her forever home, she must be separated at feeding times and there cannot be any treats given while with another dog. She would be great as an only dog or in a home with a laid back, unflappable male.Good with cats: unknown, will not be adopted to a home with a cat.Good with children: Hilda is extremely friendly with everyone and although, she likes meeting children while out in public we do not know how she would be living with them so will not be placed with children at least 10 years of age.Activity preference: Easy peasy. Hilly would love to go for a short walk everyday but it is not needed. Five to ten minutes of play time in the back yard is enough for this girl.IQ: clever girlFavorite things: Hilly loves a peanut butter and treat stuffed frozen toys and puzzles. A close second to her affection for food is cuddling. This snuggle bug is happiest curled up with you on the couch.Good at: Meeting people, Hilly is a favorite everywhere she goes. She is a very happy, friendly little lady. She has good house manners and is the sweetest.Ideal home: This adaptable girl would do great in city or country. She is quiet indoors and is a great candidate for a smaller sized home that wants a big dog.Health issue: Due to Hilda’s Heartworm history, she should not be exercised vigorously and particular care must be taken in the heat. She loves being out and about in the world but short distances only for this girl. Hilda determines how far we go, but typically walks between a mile and 1.5 miles.Training: Hilly knows basic commands but she loves learning new things.Meet Hilly:This southern belle came from Louisiana. Like so many, she was heartworm positive and had a myriad of treatable health issues. Her heartworm had made her pretty sick, but Hilly is a fighter. This tough cookie fought through heartworm treatment and is now loving life. Hilly was also treated for ear infections, UTI, and anemia. She spent a good deal of time at the vet and immediately developed a fan club. Every time we go to the vet, her fans flock to the waiting area to say hello.Hilly is a happy go lucky dog who has had a rough go of things. You wouldn’t know it by meeting her though. She is feeling much better and can’t wait to find her forever family. She would love a partner in crime to take her lots of places, but she is also fine staying behind at home. Hilly is looking for a home with treats, cuddles, and more treats.
