About Us
We are a passionate group of volunteers dedicated to giving American Bulldogs and bull breed dogs a second chance at life.
Our Mission
American Bulldog Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to rescuing and finding forever homes for American Bulldogs and bull breed dogs in need.
We operate primarily in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, and New York, working with shelters, owner surrenders, and strays to give these incredible dogs a second chance.
Every dog in our care is placed in a loving foster home, given all necessary veterinary care, and carefully matched with a forever family through our thorough adoption process.
Our Story
American Bulldog Rescue was founded by a small group of breed enthusiasts who saw too many American Bulldogs ending up in shelters, often misunderstood and overlooked.
What started as a grassroots effort has grown into a well-organized rescue network with volunteers across multiple states. We have placed hundreds of dogs in loving homes and continue to grow.
We are entirely volunteer-run. Every person involved — from our coordinators to our foster families to our home checkers — donates their time because they believe these dogs deserve better.
About the American Bulldog
The American Bulldog is a loyal, athletic, and affectionate breed with a long history as a working farm dog. They are known for their strength, intelligence, and deep devotion to their families.
Despite their tough appearance, American Bulldogs are gentle giants at heart — often described as "velcro dogs" because of how closely they bond with their people. They thrive with consistent training, plenty of exercise, and lots of love.
Unfortunately, the breed's size and strength can make them challenging for inexperienced owners, which is why so many end up in shelters. With the right family, an American Bulldog is an extraordinary companion.
