Sugar’s Happy Tail

We, at ABR, are especially thrilled about Sugar’s Happy Tail. She came to us from a horrible existence and she waited ever so patiently for her forever human to find her. We wrote, and wrote, and wrote, and wrote, and wrote, and wrote, and wrote about her hoping that a very special person would find her. And he did. Thank you Randy!

Here’s a note from him:

Sugar is doing just fine! We are working on her social skills and she is coming along well. She doesn’t back away from people in groups now (well, hardly), and will even say a cautious hello to men (maybe due to treats I give them to give her!). She is fine with other dogs, but has run a few cats out of the yard. Don’t know what she would do if she caught one, but suspect it would be hard on the cat. She had a group of 8 people singing “Sugar Sugar” to her last night and wagged the whole time! She is territorial at home and barks steadily at guys that come over, so for now I keep her on a lead for awhile. She’s also seems to have realized car rides don’t always lead to vets and stuff, and she gets to go back home after. She’s affectionate and likes to lean against me, especially when she gets a bit unsure of things. Her weight looks good now so I cut back on the food some. Anyway, I could go on and on!

Sugar is the bomb- Sugar is a wonderful sweetie! The neighbors love her too- she only barks when there is something to bark about. She is still shy about new people, but more willing to be reassured than she was. She sticks close to me wherever we go (I had bought a 20 foot lead, but it was kinda unnecessary. The regular lead works fine unless we’re in a park or woods). Still working on nail clipping. Even with treats, two toes a day is her limit. Thanks for saving this great dog!
