Before you decide on one specific breed, investigate it’s history, temperment, and uses to make sure that they mesh well with your own lifestyle. Just because a breed is currently popular does not mean it’s the right one for you, and the choice of a dog should be made with the intention of caring for that dog throughout it’s lifetime.
