Zima

Zima

Age:4-4 1/2
Weight: 92 lbs
Location: Albrightsville, PA
Nicknames:
Good with other dogs?: Yes, Other: Does not live with another dog now.
In her foster home she is not living with another dog but she has met several other dogs and has played and enjoyed being with them. Would only recommend a larger, probably male, dog for her to be a companion. She is very curious of all dogs but because of her size and strength when playing would not recommend a small dog. She does have anxiety around new people but when another dog is around she has been much more relaxed and open to meeting their people and letting them pet her, etc.
Good with cats? unknown, will not be adopted to a home with a cat
Good with children? unknown, will not be adopted to a home with kids under 10
Activity Preference: Needs in-house activities, Low maintenance overall but needs quality outside time., Will go with the flow, other: She loves to go on a walk but crashes out immediately after! A yard with a fence would be great for her to run off some of her energy.
IQ: Average
Zima’s favorite things: She is a love with her foster parents, always wanting attention, belly rubs and even playtime. She loves her stuffed animals and will actually content herself playing with one throwing it around and catching it and then tearing it apart. She does not play with balls but does love a rope toy or stuffie.
Zima is good at: meeting dogs, staying in a crate, behaving in the house, going for car rides, walking on a leash, cuddling, playing, following commands, other: She knows sit, down, here and we are still working on look. She does have a stubborn bulldog streak and can be hard to get attention if there is something she wants to smell or see. She is good on a leash with a harness.
Ideal home: another dog, other: Would recommend a larger male dog to be her buddy.
Training Needs: socialization with people, socialization with dogs, other: just consistency with the training on and off leash.
Health issues: none

Meet Zima

Zima is a complete sweetheart with her foster parents and took to us immediately. She loves attention and sometimes requests it relentlessly. She is crate trained and sleeps in her crate at night and if we are out of the home for any period of time. She is completely house trained, never an accident. She loves playing with her stuffed toys and heavy duty rope toys. She can play by herself for quite a few minutes and then has her bulldog nap.
Zima is a BIG girl and extremely strong. Would recommend someone with the strength and experience to handle a large strong dog.
Zima does have anxiety meeting new people and can growl and snap at new people but we have found if they have a dog(s) with them she is much more docile and open to meeting the people and especially the dog(s). We are working with her everyday, with meeting new people and she is getting better but she still needs patience and socialization skills worked on with people. No matter what size the dog, she has more interest in the dog than the people on walks but gets anxiety if a person is without a dog. She has become more and more comfortable with people outside our home as long as they don’t approach her without proper introductions.
