Winnie aka Winter
Age: maybe 5
Weight: 55 lbs
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Nicknames: Winnie pie, Winter Louise, Winta
Good with other dogs?: Yes, but with the right personality. Winnie is a bit bossy and a little in love with herself so she sometimes comes across as pushy and overbearing. The best companion for her would be a senior dog who won’t care about her antics or a super chill dog who will just blow any pushiness off (like Brutus).
Good with cats? Yes, Winnie lives with 3 cats in her foster home.Good with children? Unknown. We think an adult home would be best.
Activity Preference: Will go with the flow, likes car rides, likes walks, playing with her foster brother, naps, no-hides, bones, and stuffies.
IQ: Average
Winnie’s favorite things: Winnie loves following her foster mom all around the house and backyard, Winnie loves attention, a bone, her toys, and being told how pretty she is!
Winnie is good at: staying in a crate, behaving in the house, walking on a leash, riding in a car, cuddling, following commands, being a good girl!
Ideal home: quiet environment, a fenced yard, while she could live with the right dog, she would probably prefer to be your only one true love.
Training Needs: Winnie would benefit by continued practice with socialization with people and dogs
Health issues: Winnie does seem to have some seasonal allergies. But nothing extensive. She takes Benadryl and claritin. She also has dry eye as a result of having untreated entropion for so long. She requires drops twice a day for the dry eye.
Meet Winnie:
She will greet you with barks that lead into flopping herself on the floor at your feet belly-up waiting for pets! Then, she will bring you a toy, usually for tug-o-war. At times, Winnie is a vocal young lady and is not shy about it. She would probably be so happy to be the only dog in your home but does get along with her young, silly, canine foster brother. When first meeting a new dog she can seem overly pushy so she would need a dog who can ignore that and balance out her pushiness. She is currently living with Brutus (also available for adoption) and they get along great! Brutus even has Winnie running around the back yard! We love that for her!
A typical day with Winnie starts with her expressing how hungry she is while you prepare her food after breakfast it is pretty much snoozing, potty breaks, a chew stick, and maybe some play time with one of her human fosters or with Brutus! When it gets close to dinner, Winnie will give reminders that it’s almost time to eat! Then it’s more playtime until it’s time for bed! If you have hard surface flooring you’ll hear Winter’s signature shuffle that sounds like she’s wearing slippers.
Winnie is an absolute delight! She’s an easy girl with so much personality! However, she doesn’t show that to just anybody, you have to earn it. It takes Winnie a little bit to warm up to new people. The best thing to do when meeting her is to totally ignore her and after a little while she will be your very best friend! It is so worth that little extra room she needs in the beginning. Once she bonds with you, you’ll receive so much love and your heart will melt when you catch her gazing at you so lovingly. Winnie has so much love to give and deserves the same in return.
