Good with other dogs?: Yes.
So far Hondo has been non-reactive to other dogs outside the house. He doesn’t seem to care. In the house, he was curious of the other dog, but didn’t seem to care after a sniff or two.

Good with cats? unknown, will not be adopted to a home with a cat

Good with children? OK for kids over: 10-12

Activity Preference: Needs a couple walks a day., Low maintenance overall but needs quality outside time., Will go with the flow

Hondo’s favorite things: Hondo loves to be with you, he’ll be your shadow. He does have some toys that he enjoys playing with. His favorite toy is a jolly ball with the rope attached. His is supervised with the jolly ball because he will rip the rope part off.

Hondo is good at: staying in a crate, behaving in the house, making me feel safe, walking on a leash, following commands

Ideal home: another dog, quiet environment, a fenced yard

Training Needs: socialization with people

Health issues: He does have some allergies, an allergy test was run on him prior to coming into the rescue. Now that he has been on better food for a while and is being taken care of properly those allergies do not require medication of any kind.

Meet Hondo

Hondo! This boy had a rough life up until some kind neighbors took him in. They got him healthy and got him to us here at ABR. Since getting to his foster home, Hondo has really opened up and is just one big, happy boy. The key with Hondo is patience. Because of his not-so-great life prior, you need to earn his trust. The fastest way to do that…walks, walks, and more WALKS!! Even just sitting outside under a tree will win Hondo over. His foster mom really took her time with him, letting him go to her, and just being in his presence without interaction. Oh, and did we mention walks? Hondo also loves to be groomed! He will happily let you clean his ears, clean his wrinkles, bath him, and brush him (he even let his foster mom vacuum him!!). Hondo does take to women faster, and he enjoys kids as well. We would recommend kids 10 or up, Hondo gets really excited and has no idea of his size.
