Dutchie/Bernice

Dutchie/Bernice

Age:10
Weight: 45
Location: Frederick, MD
Nicknames: Bernice, Dutchy
Good with other dogs?: Yes.
Dutch like to be in charge. She gets along and loves our dog. My only reservation is if she has a treat or food, the other dog will hear about it if they come and try to take it. We would recommend just feeding them separately or at different times. No big deal.
Good with cats? yes, other: She picks up vibes from the Cat, if the cat is chill, she will be chill.
Good with children? yes, OK for kids over: 10
Activity Preference: Needs in-house activities, Low maintenance overall but needs quality outside time., Will go with the flow, Champion couch potato
IQ: Smart
Dutch’s favorite things: Dutch is doing her research before deciding on which Retirement home to pick. she MUST have car rides (multiple a day is preferred, but a couple a week will do). She MUST have a fenced in back yard (girl loves the sun and will put in a 4-5 hour shift outside soaking up the rays and smells). She MUST have a soft couch that she is allowed to sit on.
Dutch is good at: meeting people, meeting dogs, staying in a crate, behaving in the house, going for car rides, walking on a leash
Ideal home: other: Dutch would do great as a second dog, and as an only dog. Dutch would do great with a kid, but would do great by herself.
Training Needs:
Health issues: Dutch has some allergies and we have her on a Raw Diet. It seems to help a lot. We would definitely recommend stick to it. Please do not let this scare you. We have fed our dog raw for 5 years. We can help you figure this out. Do not let this be the reason you don’t adopt Dutch.

Meet Dutch

Dutch is accepting suitors for her retirement home! To be considered she requires her Shady Pines to provide car rides weekly, soft couches and beds to sit on, and a fenced in area with lots of sun.

Dutch is a sassy fun loving senior who will keep you on your toes! This old gal has blossomed into a completely new dog now that she isn’t in terrible health. Her musts are listed above. If you are able to provide these Dutch really just goes with the flow. She doesn’t require much and will provide you with some company, attention and of course love.

She does well with kids, but does need a break and needs the kids to understand that when she needs a break, she needs a break. She will excuse herself and curl up on the couch for a cat nap.

Whats that, you want to play? Dutch gets very mouthy when she plays. She doesn’t bite, or even nip, she just likes to have her mouth open and on your arm. She loves a good rough belly rub session!

Whats that you say, you are going for a car ride to get some ice cream? Dutch is down. She loads up and sticks her head out the window and doesn’t move until the car shuts down.

Dutch does very well with routines and once you get her into one she listens and just goes on her way….ie When it is time for bed we say, “ok, lets go to bed, go outside and pee.” She goes outside pees and comes back in. Then we say, “ok dutch, night time, go to bed.” Dutch goes to her bed and waits to be covered up.

If you are looking for an easy to care for, low key life companion, Dutch is your girl!!
