Age:About a year
Weight: 50 lbs needs to gain 20 already gained 15!
Location: Monmouth County, NJ
Nicknames:
Good with other dogs?: Yes.
Ace is fostering with 2 male dogs a small Boston Terrier and 50 lb American Bulldog and they get along nicely. Ace loves to play and is friendly to new dogs. He is young and plays a lot. If I feel I want the play jumping and wrestling to stop I redirect Ace verbally with the word “Enough” and stand up. He promptly stops and shakes his head indication that he knows I want the play to stop. He is a smart good dog!
Good with cats? other: No prey drive so I feel would be ok with a a cat. Doesn’t chase animals outside and good with small Dogs. Would need to be cat tested.
Good with children? yes
Activity Preference: Will go with the flow, other: Likes outside running around the fenced yard. Is good on leash if you like to walk. Very flexible but needs some outside time.
IQ: Smart
Ace’s favorite things: Ace is BETTER than a puppy. He is house trained and what a great disposition. At just about a year old Ace is so friendly to people and loves kids too. He is friendly and playful with dogs of all sizes, playing is just great with Him. Ace cooperated with his bath and is a good eater. Ace doesn’t show a prey drive so he doesn’t chase squirrels or bother critters. Surprisingly Ace is not afraid of fireworks (my dog and many dogs are). Ace absolutely and thoroughly LOVES Toy but is just as happy putting his head on your lap if your watching tv. Ace enjoys outside time trotting around the yard. Ace LOVES car rides! Talk about seeing a happy dog.. Bring Ace to pickup your kids at school! Ace is a great very young dog!
Ace is good at: meeting people, meeting dogs, behaving in the house, going for car rides, making me feel safe, walking on a leash, cuddling, playing and love!
Ideal Home: another dog, children, someone at home most of the day, a fenced yard, other: Ace can be with a dog and enjoys them but would be great as a only dog with lots of human companions.  Ace should not be crated.  He was abused by being kept alone in a small crate, alone and starved.  Obviously, he does not like crates.  We understand that.
Training Needs: other: Ace knows basic commands and is a smart quick learner. Being consistent and putting Ace in a sit stay to greet visitors is recommended. He gets excited.
Health issues: Ace currently is underweight. He was starved and neglected ( original owner before surrender to ABR) but is great health and vet checked him out to be totally normal and healthy. He is currently at about 60 pounds and should be 65-70 pounds. Ace has a beautiful tall bone structure and when his weight reached normal range he will be stunning! He eats three times a day and is gaining weight nicely.

Meet Ace

Ace was treated very badly by his first owner. Caged and starved and saved by ABR in the nick of time. After 4 nights at the vet for FullSizeRender-1 FullSizeRender image-1 image image IMG_2384 IMG_2445 IMG_2510 IMG_2579treatment to save his life and tests Ace thankfully had no disease or parasites and no lasting effects from neglect. In my foster home Ace is THRIVING with love from 2 adults, 4 kids and 2 dogs. He sleeps all night on a dog bed in my bedroom floor. Ace is house trained and runs to the door to alert you needs out to bathroom. Ace is SO LOVING and sits and welcomes kisses and enjoys petting for as long as you will give him attention his tail is wagging in delight. Ace is smart and is learning commands quickly we are practicing sit, stay, come and lay down. He is alert and happy to learn and please you and I recommend continuing with commands and simple training. Ace is not a crazy barker but will give a bark when someone is approaching the house to alert you someone is coming. I find this wonderful and makes me feel safe. I also put Ace in a sit command when company enters our front door since this lets him contain his excitement and not jump so company can greet him. Ace is a amazing dog so save a life and add a once in a lifetime gem of a pet to your home. So if you are looking for a larger, friendly and playful young dog Ace is your guy!! Fill out a application today and give Ace the permanent home he deserves, you won’t regret it. 😍
