I’m a low maintenance girl at home. I got the hang of going to the bathroom outside right away. I am left alone during the day sometimes and I am not destructive.

I enjoy meeting new people and will put my head in your lap to get some loving. If there is a guy that gives me attention I melt into a puddle at their feet. My foster mom says I’m boy-crazy but I think it would be great to have a man of my own one day. The 10 yo boy at my foster home helps take care of me and he’s definitely my favorite.

Age: 4

Approximate Weight: 60lbs

Location: Anne Arundel County, Maryland

Good with other dogs? No, must be an only dog, I ignore other other dogs in public but I like to be the Queen of the castle at home.

Good with cats? Unknown

Good with children? Not recommended for kids under 10. Play for me is different because I never learned to play. I can get rough and quite mouthy. Any kids I live with should be older than 10 and dog savvy with the ability to know when to give me my alone time and take toys/bones away.

Energy Level: My foster mom here doesn’t let me do much. I had to stay calm for months during my Heartworm treatment, and then they fixed a tear in my knee and I had to rest in my crate a lot. I love car rides and I try to tell my foster mom I love walks even though she won’t take me yet. I’m pretty content to lounge around the house but I’d probably be up for more if you take it nice and slow.

IQ: About average

Nicknames: Miss Meaty, Meaty-girl, Meat-hilda

Her favorite thing in the world is: Men. Meaty is a bit boy-crazy.

She is good: On a leash, In a car, At meeting new people, At staying in a crate, At not having accidents in the house

Her ideal home would have: A quiet environment, I enjoy the quiet environment in my foster home. Other than being the only animal, I think i could go with the flow for most other situations.

Training Needs: I’m not sure about all this sit, down, stay, heel business. I just hang close to my humans and always seem to be in the right place doing what I’m supposed to be doing. I’m a really good girl.

Medical Issues: The day the people I was living with dropped me of at BARCS in Baltimore City was probably the luckiest thing that ever happened to me. An ABR volunteer picked me up to give me a ride to the vet. I had no idea I was in such bad shape. I had two terrible ear infections, a snotty nose, skin infections, and the most terribly infected tail you’ve ever seen. My tail corkscrew tail is an innie, not an outie, and nobody had been helping me keep myself clean. I also had a tear in the ligament in my knee and to top it all off I was Heartworm positive.

Here in my foster home I’ve been a wonderful patient because I know they are helping me. No more infections, I am Heartworm negative, my tail healed and my foster mom keeps me nice and clean now, and I’m finishing up rehabilitating my knee after surgery. This is the first time in a long time I’ve been in no pain and I am a grateful dog.
