Rescue Recap- w/e 05/30/10

Posted: May 30th, 2010

Happy Memorial Day everyone! Our update this weekend is going to be somewhat abbreviated. Our volunteers are taking a much needed break and spending some time with their families (as we hope everyone else is as well).

Still Waiting:

Lucy is a happy, pretty girl who loves to play, give millions of kisses and get her treats when she comes in from outside. She is totally house trained, crate trained and has been good with our 7 year old daughter. She turned 1 year old in March and she is an American Bulldog / Boxer mix. Lucy wags her tail nonstop, and wants to be involved in EVERYTHING! She will protect her new family as she has a very loud bark when anyone walks past the house! Lucy loves to run! She will need to training on a leash as her curiosity tends to make her pull. Lucy is not a cat fan so no cats please. She is currently in PA. View Lucy’s photo album.

Updates:

Kingston apparently had a rough night  last night and is now on an IV. We’re waiting to hear from his Rescue Angel and will post any information as soon as we get it.

Kingston’s page has been updated. Please keep this sweet baby in your thoughts.

Our Daisy girl had a professional photo shoot. How cool is that? ABR would like to extend a big thank you to Lisa Presnail of the “Little Pet Project” for donating her amazing talent. Please check out her website and all of the great things that she does.

Daisy desperately needs a quiet foster home so she can have her surgery.  We can use a vet in Deland, FL or West Palm so she would need a foster nearby for her post-op appointments.  She will need to be crated (medically necessary so she doesn’t hurt herself and ruin her knees) the majority of the time with several small walks a day.  She must be careful not to slip on wet floors or get knocked around by other dogs.  Please fill out a foster application if you think you can help get Daisy on the way to her first surgery.

Here is Daisy’s photo album and update page.

Hey Wassup? It’s me Puck! I’m still waiting for my forever human to find me but things have gotten better for me this week. They were able to move me out of a boarding kennel and to my new foster home. Thank goodness! They wrote about me last week  but, sigh, no one filled out an adoption application for me.

Here’s a picture of me on my transport adventure. Here’s a little more about it- Puck’s wonderful and fantastic BFF Jeri picked Puck up from the vet’s to start the process of transporting. Jeri wrote:  “Puck was a perfect gentleman with me!  He sat in the front seat like a person just checkin’ out the scenery.  At each red light he’d look over at the next car like “hey wassup?”  and the people would start laughing hysterically! I can’t wait to see him again tomorrow!”

And here’s what Carey wrote: Puck arrived at his foster home last night and couldn’t be happier being with a family again.  Here’s what his foster mom wrote:  “Carey, He’s HUGE!! all he’s wanted is some attention. He gave Chris huge kisses on the way home last night.  ”

Won’t you give me a chance? I have LOTS of “wassup?” moments to share! I’m currently in FL.

Check out my photo album.

Augustus has also moved to a foster home where he is just having a blast.  He would love a forever home of his very own.  Please consider making Augustus a part of your family.  His foster mom wrote:  Auggie is a really good dog. He is easy to redirect and just needs his “manners 101” course to continue. He was soooooo good for his bath. I had to include this picture of the two of them because when he first got here this was not happening. He would bark at her if she laid on the pink blanket.  Now they are chillin’. They have even gone into the kennel together. Pretty funny looking when they do. He’s such a Romeo….this isn’t the first hot chick he’s enticed into his kennel….lol.

Augustus is currently in FL. Here’s his photo album.

It’s Penny’s turn to find a foster home too.  She’s waiting patiently at Aunt Louise’s for her forever home or a foster home to become available.  She’s spayed and vaccinated and ready to go!

Louise, from Sunkiva Kennels, writes: Penny is a love bug. Her favorite thing is to follow you around and be near you.  She is so quiet about it that you have to be careful not to turn around or you will fall over her.  She loves to be petted.

Penny is currently in FL. Check out her photo album.

New Arrivals:

Hi! My name is Jack.

ABR got an urgent message about a 5 mos. old puppy in Houston (me!) that was turned in by his young owner.  I was literally on my way to Heaven when they received the urgent e-mail.  My wonderful foster picked me up and took me back to New Orleans with her.  I will be neutered and vaccinated before I’m available for adoption.

Here’s what my new foster mom, Mary, wrote about me: This is a great pup! He seems to be pretty much house trained. Or at least he has the basic idea. You can see from the pictures, that he and Pumpkin get along great. She took right to him, and him to her. He even likes my old cat. The cat doesn’t know what to think of him yet, he’s keeping his distance.

Here’s my photo album. I’m currently in New Orleans and looking for my furever home!

Hey there, I’m Droopy! I’m such a sweet, lovable guy. Here’s a little more about me:

We just rescued Droopy minutes before he was to be euthanized. Droopy is approx. 3 years old and was apparently born with a deformed back foot.  He has no bones in his toes but that doesn’t stop him from being a loving and wonderful dog for the right family.  He just won’t be anyone’s jogging partner.  Droopy gets around just fine as this is all he knows and has adjusted just fine. He’s neutered and vaccinated and ready for the perfect home to cuddle up with and feel safe and loved. We will have more photos of Droopy soon.

I’m currently in FL. Here’s my photo album.

I’ve been adopted!

It’s me, Nike! My wonderful forever humans finally found me and I have moved to Atlanta.

Here’s my photo album

Woohoo! Patrick here. I’ve been adopted and am having the time of my life! Here’s my photo album.
