Cosmo courtesy post

Age: 21 months
Weight: 120
Location: Orange, CT
Nicknames: “Cookie”
Good with other dogs?: He was raised with medium sized female dogs and did well with them so we believe he would do well with the same.
Good with cats? no cats, he has a fierce prey drive for anything tiny that runs from him, including birds, chipmunks, squirrels, rabbits and even butterflies he will try and catch.
Good with children? OK for kids over: 12
Activity Preference: Lots of energy he is still a puppy and LOVES playing and running in the yard with his toys. Kong squeakies are his favorites and he will throw his plush toys up in the air and catch them, which is really cute to see. His foster parents love playing with him. He is such a sweet dog, very affectionate and has a wonderful happy go lucky nature. He settles down well though.
IQ: Smart and willingness to learn
Cosmo’s favorite things: Cosmo loves being with people, but is fine on his own. He loves company and makes everyone he meets happy to be in his company. He loves to give kisses and knows basic commands, he is affectionate and your second shadow.
Cosmo is good at: making people happy, meeting strangers, staying in a crate, behaving in the house (but he is still a counter surfer if he can reach it, he may take it), keeping us company, listening, (he is great at cheering us up if we had a bad day). He is the perfect companion and his foster parents are so fortunate that they have the pleasure of having him- if even for a short while.
Ideal home: DdB experience or similar breed experience, not caring about drool being slung around the house (he is a drooler), a big fenced yard with shade trees, not a lot of commotion in his home- he seems to really enjoy calm and quiet, he gets excited when there is too much commotion, but does well in the comfort of his crate.
Training Needs: He needs continued training with walking on leash, he is not a huge DdB but don’t let that fool you, he is super strong and still a very powerful puller so his training will need to be continued with a professional trainer which is a necessity for his adopters to commit to. He needs a 6 foot wood or vinyl fenced-in yard, he loves to run and play on his own and would like this to continue in his forever home, if you do not have a nice sized secure fenced in yard prior to submitting your application, please do not apply to adopt him.
Health issues: none that we know of.

Affectionate is an understatement for Cosmo. He is super affectionate and loves every person he meets. He could not be any sweeter and though he is still pretty much a puppy he is smart and is willing to learn, but he can be stubborn as well. He is a quiet dog and rarely barks, he only barks when the resident dog barks. He is a counter surfer and has “rearranged” a few of his foster mom’s cookbooks, when left on the cocktail table within his reach, but he is still a work in progress as he had no training of any kind in his former life. He is a wonderful representation of what a dogues disposition should be and is going to make the family who adopts him very happy that they did.

If you can continue Cosmo’s training and have the dedication to give him the time, attention, exercise and guidance this young boy needs to continue flourishing please go to our website and complete the adoption application of our rescues are spayed/neutered, up to date on shots and micro chipped before being placed.
