Julissa has only been with our family for about a week and she has already won our hearts! She came to ABR several weeks ago from a NYC shelter and had to spend some time in isolation to recover from a pretty serious respiratory infection. She was also very skinny, had eye infections and needed a serious pedicure. At the same time she started treatment for demodectic mange. You can see in some of the photos how skinny and mangey she was.

Now, Julissa is looking and feeling so much better! She has a little way to go with gaining weight but no more cold! She has the cutest little fuzzy hair growing back, and she’s gaining weight steadily! She is a smart, sweet, quiet girl. She is housetrained, walks perfect on a leash, and obeys commands. She is still working on crate training but she is doing well. We just started with commands like “here” and “stay” today. She is young and learns quickly. The best home for Julissa would be one with experience. As sweet as Julissa is, she needs a confident leader or it will go all wrong. These dogs, like our bullies, need structure and look to us to be strong leaders. That doesn’t mean our sweet girl doesn’t want to snuggle and cuddle and give you a big kiss! Balance, for her, is key! She is an amazing, gentle girl. I am very lucky to have her here with us.
